Close to 60 students explored career opportunities at the event, which featured an alumni panel and opportunities to network with employers, professional associations and college representatives.

Now in its third year, SheMeansBusiness provides students with opportunities to learn about different career pathways, build professional networks and gain insight into the skills and experiences that can support their future careers.

The alumni panel featured three Conestoga graduates who shared their career journeys and experiences working in marketing, human resources and accounting.

Panelists included Andie Morataya (Business Administration - Marketing), marketing manager at PointClickCare Life Sciences; Larissa Currah (Human Resources Management), founder and vice-president, People at LC People Consulting; and Nicole Maine (Bachelor of Business Administration - Accounting, Audit and Information Technology), intermediate accountant and student ambassador at BDO Canada.

Through their experiences, the graduates offered students insight into the transition from college to the workplace and the different opportunities available within their respective industries.

Students also had the opportunity to connect directly with employers and professional organizations to learn more about career opportunities, industry expectations and professional designations.

Participating organizations included Staebler Insurance, itec group Recruitment Solutions, CIM Chartered Managers Canada, CPA Ontario, MNP, Fastenal, the Human Resources Professionals Association, RLB Chartered Professional Accountants, Project Management Institute Canada's Technology Triangle and the National Payroll Institute.

Representatives from Conestoga's Entrepreneurship Collective, Talent Hub and Continuing Education were also available to share information about resources and services that support students' professional development.

"Connecting students with our graduates and industry partners is an important part of preparing them for their future careers. Our alumni bring valuable experience and perspectives back to the college, helping students better understand the opportunities available to them and build relationships that can support their professional growth," said Tanya du Plessis, dean of Conestoga's School of Business.

Events such as SheMeansBusiness reflect the college's ongoing commitment to connecting students with industry and providing opportunities to explore career pathways beyond the classroom. They also provide an opportunity for Conestoga graduates to share their experiences and support the next generation of business professionals.

The School of Business offers a range of programs and pathways for students to pursue careers in business. Programs reflect current industry needs and provide opportunities for students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in an evolving workforce.
