The Awards of Excellence recognize best practices and individual achievements from colleges and institutes across the country and are presented annually to a group of CICan members who are honoured for their outstanding leadership and contributions to advancing Canada’s social, cultural and economic development.
“The impact of Canada’s colleges and institutes on Canada’s social and economic well-being cannot be overstated, especially in times of economic hardship when innovation and a diverse, skilled workforce are more imperative than ever,” said Denise Amyot, CICan president and CEO. “Although we strive to acknowledge our members’ hard work and commitment daily, these awards serve as a special tribute and celebration of their remarkable achievements.”
Conestoga consistently ranks among Canada’s top research colleges, finishing in 15th place overall in 2022 according to Research Infosource. Last year, Conestoga was also among Canada’s top ten large colleges for its number of paid student researchers and completed research projects, as well as its industry research income.
“We are proud to be recognized for the growth of our applied research activities and the impact it has on our communities and our students,” said Michelle Chrétien, associate vice president, Research & Innovation. “Our work drives innovation and economic development through collaboration with industry and community partners, supporting them in developing new products and processes, connecting them with the expertise of our researchers and creating social impact.”
