Conestoga College in partnership with the Working Centre hosted an employer panel at the Waterloo Campus - Bloom Dining Room on Sept. 12th. The ten- member panel, representing the financial, manufacturing, education, IT, food and health sectors provided information to an audience of approximately 50 job seekers on resumes, interviews and trends in hiring. Panelists stated that transferable or soft skills often come into play over education in some instances throughout the hiring process. Suggestions included volunteering, having an on-line presence (Linked-In appeared to be the choice across all sectors) and networking are significant in job search. Candidates must know their potential employer and be able to articulate what they can contribute. The resounding message is that work is out there!
