Marketing Students Go Global for Trade Show Event

More than 60 third-year students in the Business Administration - Marketing program at Conestoga College will be applying their skills from a global perspective on Wednesday, November 26 at a special program-related event.

It's called the International Marketing Trade Show and takes place at the Blue Room in the Doon Centre building at the Doon campus in Kitchener from 2:30-5 p.m.

All the student participants are enrolled in a course titled International Marketing. As part of the course, the students have assembled into 17 product sales teams. Their aim is to devise strategies and tactics to take a specific Canadian product and launch international sales and promotion in a specific country. Each project will be showcased at a booth representing the market country - Italy, Japan, Sweden, Mexico, Australia and many others.

Students will be evaluated on a number of criteria: attainment of stated objectives for the project, professionalism, content and effectiveness of the display booth, sales presentation, even amount of visitor traffic generated. The audience consists of other students, faculty members, administrative staff and even mentors who have advised on specific projects.

Business Administration - Marketing is a three-year diploma program, featuring an optional co-operative education component. Graduates of the program are prepared to begin careers in marketing, professional sales, retailing and general business in industries and organizations as diverse as advanced technology, manufacturing, information technology, financial services, commercial businesses, and governmental and community agencies.
