The Conestoga community will celebrate our newest graduates during spring convocation ceremonies June 22-27.

The college’s newest graduates are part of a dynamic network of more than 225,000 alumni from across the region and around the world, using their knowledge and skills to launch successful careers and impact their industries and communities.

As part of the week’s ceremonies, the Conestoga community will also recognize those who have been chosen to receive the college’s awards for excellence.

Chioma Uwaneme from the Health Care Administration and Service Management program will be awarded the James W. Church Award. Named in honour of the college’s founding president, the award recognizes a graduating student for achievement in learning, concern for the dignity of the individual, and making a personal contribution to benefit society.

Uwaneme is an accomplished health-care administrator with over a decade of experience in clinical operations, patient coordination, and administrative leadership. She serves as a board member at the Grand River Community Health Centre and has provided administrative and patient care support to several community organizations. During her time at Conestoga, Uwaneme supported academic operations as both a student ambassador and a data assistant. She currently serves as a patient care coordinator at SickKids.

The Mastercraft Award in Engineering & Technology will be awarded to Sydney Detweiler, graduating from the Bachelor of Interior Design Program. The award recognizes student achievement in program-related technical skills in applied computer science and IT, as well as engineering and technology, as demonstrated at the college’s Tech Showcase.

For her winning project, Detweiler created a fully developed design solution for a collective environment. Designed for working professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs and wellness enthusiasts, the Well Collective is a 13,000 square foot project, offering a unique ecosystem where productivity, wellness and community thrive together. The multi-purpose brand seamlessly integrates a co-working space, café and movement studio into one cohesive environment focused on sustainability, inclusivity and accessibility.

The Mastercraft Award in Applied Computer Science & Information Technology (IT) will be presented to Nishita Deswal, Shai Karmani and Lucas Quilaguy Vivanco from the IT Innovation and Design program.

For their winning project, the team developed an intelligent, personalized pregnancy companion. Built with a blend of expert knowledge and emotional intelligence, the program delivers real-time, artificial intelligence-powered guidance tailored to each journey, including daily insights and calm reassurance.

All ceremonies will be live-streamed on CCDTV, the college’s digital TV channel, and recordings will be made available through the college’s website.
