Two Conestoga development projects were recognized with Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) Building Excellence Awards.

Two Conestoga development projects were recognized with Grand Valley Construction Association Building Excellence Awards, including renovation on the third floor of the Kitchener - Doon campus E Wing to create state-of-the-art teaching and research labs.
The biennial awards announced at a gala event on March 21 in Kitchener honour the achievements of association members who uphold the highest standards and best practices in construction projects.
Collaborative Structures Limited received two awards in the institutional category for projects completed on Conestoga campuses:
* Indigenous-inspired classrooms won for projects valued at up to $2 million.
Two standard classrooms at the Kitchener - Doon campus and Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus in Cambridge were transformed into versatile, culturally significant learning spaces to accommodate both Indigenous studies and general student use while providing an engaging environment for academic and community activities.
* New labs for the School of Health & Life Sciences won for projects between $10 million and $20 million.
This renovation on the third floor of the Kitchener - Doon campus E Wing created state-of-the-art teaching and research labs that feature Biosafety Level 2 labs and support areas and advanced HVAC systems.
Conestoga projects also received three other nominations: the Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus in Cambridge in the restoration category and in the institutional category for projects over $20 million, and the college’s One Young location in downtown Kitchener was nominated in the $5 to $10-million category.
Over the past five years, Conestoga has invested more than $500 million in the communities it serves to ensure students have affordable housing and state-of-the-art facilities where they can develop the skills and knowledge today’s employers demand.
In addition to key investments in the skilled trades campus and health-care learning facilities, the college completed major facilities upgrades in Guelph, Waterloo and Kitchener. Two new campuses opened in Milton last year and Conestoga will welcome students at its new Stratford campus this fall.
