Conestoga ranked among Canada’s top research colleges

Conestoga placed among the Top 20 research colleges in Canada for the sixth consecutive year in the annual rankings by Research Infosource.

Conestoga was ranked 19 out of 50 colleges overall in 2024 by Research Infosource, the leading source of research and development intelligence in Canada.

Conestoga was also among the Top 10 in several key categories, demonstrating the college’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students, faculty and partners in the community and industry:

• Highest number of researchers engaged (314): Highlights how Conestoga accesses expertise from across the college, allowing faculty and students to lead innovative projects. It also reflects strong commitment to advancing research and fostering innovation.

• Fourth in the number of paid student researchers (206): Reflects dedication to integrating real-world experience into student learning, equipping graduates with critical skills for the workforce.

• Seventh in research partnerships (99): Highlights Conestoga’s role as a trusted partner for industries and organizations seeking to advance their goals through collaboration and innovation.

• Eighth in completed research projects (53): Shows the ability to deliver impactful results and meet the needs of partners efficiently.

Conestoga has remained in Research Infosource’s Top 20 ranking since 2019.

The college’s research centres include: the SMART Centre, a dedicated hub for applied research, technical services and training with a focus on advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity and advanced recycling technologies; the Conestoga Food Research & Innovation Lab, an applied food research lab that meets the needs of industry through research and technical expertise; the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance, which strives to conduct cutting-edge research and develop evidence-informed products, tools and services by working closely with stakeholders to advance capacity and address knowledge gaps; and the Centre for Health Care Research & Innovation, focused on strengthening the health-care system with collaborative, community-focused research through partnerships with industry, researchers and faculty, and students.

Other centres include the Conestoga Social Innovation Lab, Centre for Commercialization, Conestoga Entrepreneurship Collective and the Centre for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
