Elected officials, partners and friends of Conestoga gathered with members of the college community on Monday, June 3 to celebrate the official opening of the Milton-Parkhill campus.
A grand opening was held recently for the Milton - Parkhill Drive campus, drawing elected officials, partners and friends of Conestoga.
Located at 8160 Parkhill Drive, the site opened to 800 students in January 2024 and provides another step towards the establishment a comprehensive range of programming and services to meet the workforce and community needs of the region.
“We are very excited to welcome you to the grand opening of our Parkhill campus. This space represents another example of Conestoga’s commitment to address labour market skills shortages across our region and beyond,” said President John Tibbits. “When fully realized, Conestoga Milton will be one of the college's primary campuses, with significant student enrolment to help drive economic prosperity.”
The campus includes a renovated two-storey building and an attached one-floor modular building for a combined total of 11 classrooms and more than 25,000 sq. ft. Programming currently includes areas of study in Applied Computer Science & IT, Business, Community Services, Creative Industries, and Engineering & Technology.
Student supports on site include Library Services, the Talent Hub, International Education and the Bookstore, as well as health and wellness, academic and learning support, a testing centre, food services, and the college’s student union, Conestoga Students Inc.
In addition to the Milton-Parkhill campus, which has capacity to support up to 2,000 students, the college opened the Conestoga Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education at its Milton-Steeles Avenue site in May. The centre supports in-demand nursing and personal support worker training.
The two sites join the Conestoga-Milton IELTS Centre, which opened in 2021, as the college continues to work with partners towards the realization of its major campus development in the Milton Education Village.
During his remarks, Mayor Gordon Krantz said the Town of Milton’s partnership with Conestoga is a testament to a shared commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities and fostering a thriving community.
Milton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing communities, with a population expected to more than double by 2031. The vision for the Milton Education Village, located on a 400-acre site adjacent to the Niagara Escarpment, has been in development for more than 10 years.
