Conestoga will continue building for the future in Milton

Classes have started at Conestoga’s new Milton-Parkhill campus - the latest development in the college’s commitment to supporting social and economic prosperity in the community. In a presentation to Milton’s Town Council on January 29, the college confirmed expansion into Milton will not be impacted by the recent federal government announcement related to international student caps.

In a presentation to Milton’s Town Council on January 29, the college confirmed expansion into Milton will not be impacted by the recent federal government announcement related to international student caps.

The college also confirmed it will not be affected by the province’s moratorium on new public-private college partnerships. Conestoga has no affiliation with private colleges, and all curriculum and support services are delivered directly through Conestoga faculty and staff.

In addition to the Milton - Parkhill campus, which has capacity to support up to 2,000 students, the college will open the Conestoga Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education at its Milton-Steeles Avenue location this spring. The centre will support in-demand nursing and personal support worker training.

The two sites join the Conestoga-Milton IELTS Centre, which opened in 2021, as the college continues to work with partners towards the realization of its major campus development in the Milton Education Village.

“We are proud to continue serving the Town of Milton, its people and economy, to help make this a stronger community,” said Conestoga President John Tibbits. “We will continue building for the future and look forward to welcoming new students with programming that addresses local workforce needs, contributes to personal and professional success, and supports the well-being and prosperity of this community into the future.”

The Parkhill campus, located at 8160 Parkhill Dr. just north of Highway 401, includes a renovated two-storey building and an attached one-floor modular building for a combined total of 11 classrooms and more than 25,000 sq. ft. The design incorporates natural lighting, soft colours and textures of wood, brick, and leafy wallpaper to create a calming atmosphere.

Student supports on site include Library Services, the Talent Hub, International Education and the Bookstore, as well as health and wellness, academic and learning support, a testing centre, food services, and the college’s student union, Conestoga Students Inc.

"We are thrilled to welcome students to Milton as Conestoga College makes progress on its long-term plans in the town of Milton. Thank you for being such a quality partner, and for choosing Milton. Each milestone brings great local benefits and moves us closer to our long-term shared vision of the Milton Education Village, where education, innovation, and entrepreneurship will flourish. Conestoga’s presence in the immediate and long-term contributes to our Milton 2051 vision of a safe, diverse and welcoming community with a strong economy and outstanding opportunities to live, learn, work and play,” said Mayor Gordon Krantz, Town of Milton.

Conestoga has invested approximately $40 million to provide relevant, accessible, career-focused programming in Milton. Further investments will be directed to student housing and the full realization of the Milton Education Village.

Milton is one of Canada’s fastest-growing communities, with a population expected to more than double by 2031. The vision for the Milton Education Village, located on a 400-acre site adjacent to the Niagara Escarpment, has been in development for more than 10 years.
