As Ontario experiences a third wave of COVID-19, Waterloo Region continues to see an increase in active cases.
Two students engaged in on-campus learning activities at Conestoga’s Waterloo Campus have tested positive for COVID-19, and as a precaution, Region of Waterloo Public Health has declared an outbreak on the campus. The students have completed their studies for the semester and are in self-isolation. Individuals who may have been in close contact with them have been notified by public health officials and are also self-isolating.
There is no increased risk of COVID-19 to the broader Conestoga community. Â
This serves as a general reminder that we must continue to adhere to public health guidelines and follow all infection prevention and control measures while on campus. COVID-19 vaccines are becoming more widely available, and we encourage all members of our college community to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Â
High vaccination rates and continued efforts to follow public health recommendations will offer the best protection against COVID-19, and will eventually lead us out of this pandemic.
