Conestoga’s Athletics and Recreation department has named Scott Hunt and Jim Flynn new head coaches ahead of the start of the 2019-2020 varsity season.
Scott Hunt joins the Conestoga Condor family as head coach for the women’s volleyball team.
Hunt will lead the women’s volleyball team, joining the Conestoga Condor family as no stranger to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s volleyball circuit. Serving as head coach for the Sheridan Bruins from 2014-2019, Hunt built the program into an OCAA contender with a compiled overall record of 88-62, and was recognized as the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2015. Prior to Sheridan, Hunt served as head coach for Team Ontario and as an assistant coach with the University of Guelph and Brock University.
“We’re very happy to bring in Scott Hunt as a qualified and experienced head coach,” said Todd Erskine, assistant manager of Athletics and Recreation. “He’ll have a great impact on our team and build us into an OCAA contender.”
Flynn will lead the men’s rugby team, joining the college with an impressive background in coaching and program development. An NCCP (National Coaching Certificate Program) level 3 certified coach, Flynn’s experience includes time with the Burlington RFC, Ontario Blues and Brampton RFC, in addition to developing and growing rugby programs at the secondary level.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to build a competitive and high performing team at Conestoga,” said Flynn. “I look forward to making great strides in the OCAA men’s rugby division.”
“We welcome this opportunity for someone with Jim Flynn’s background and pedigree to help us advance our goal of building our team into a contender at OCAA,” said Erskine. “We’re excited for the next chapter in our men’s rugby program.”
