Conestoga is now accepting applications for tuition-free pre-apprenticeship programs. Funded by the Ontario government, the programs are part of a provincial initiative to support growth in high-demand jobs by introducing more young people to careers in the skilled trades. The programs will give participants experience with a skilled trades career and a head-start on achieving apprenticeship certification.
The Pre-Apprenticeship Industrial Mechanic Millwright/ Electrician will be offered in May at Conestoga's Cambridge campus. It runs full-time for 16 weeks and features an additional eight-week practical work placement experience.
The Doon campus will start the Pre-Apprenticeship Cabinetmaker/ General Carpenter program in May. It runs full-time for 23 weeks and also features an eight-week work placement.
Enrolment for each program is limited to 20 spaces and interested candidates are required to attend an information session where details about both programs will be provided. A tour of the shop will also be included. Information sessions run from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the following dates:
