In an op-ed published in the Waterloo Region Record on August 31, Conestoga President John Tibbits called for substantial investment in education and training to help address Ontario’s growing talent shortage.
In the article, Tibbits points out that Canada’s job vacancy rate is at an all-time high, and that 77 per cent of Ontario businesses describe access to talent as their greatest obstacle to growth.
Conestoga is investing in expanded facilities, programming and human resources for 2018-19 to provide opportunities for more individuals to build the skills required to launch successful careers, support employer needs, and adapt to the new workforce models that characterize our emerging economy.
