Dr. Michael Sharratt, distinguished professor emeritus of the University of Waterloo and former president of the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA), passed away on December 23.
In his role with RIA, Dr. Sharratt was instrumental in the development of research and innovation capacity to improve the quality of life for older adults here in our community and around the world. He played a key role in fostering Conestoga’s collaboration with Schlegel Villages and the RIA that has resulted in new approaches to education, training and workforce development for long-term care.
His vision, commitment and dedication will be missed.
A celebration of life for Dr. Sharratt will take place at Knox Waterloo Presbyterian Church, 50 Erb Street West, Waterloo at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the University of Waterloo Michael T. Sharratt Award, Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging or University of Waterloo WELL-FIT, may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home.
