The Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) has named Conestoga the recipient of its 2016 Community Partner Award.
Presented annually since 2001, the award recognizes the outstanding contributions made to Waterloo Region’s Catholic schools by a community partner or agency serving the students, staff and greater community of Waterloo Region.
In naming Conestoga, the Board acknowledged the college for providing facilities and staff to ensure WCDSB students are well prepared for provincial skills competitions, delivering Level 1 Apprenticeship programs and quality Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) programming for students and for partnering with the WCDSB to provide duel credit opportunities.
A statement released by the Board noted “Conestoga has always gone above and beyond what could reasonably be expected of a local college.”
“We are very pleased to work in partnership with WCDSB to provide opportunities for students from across our community to develop their skills and prepare for successful futures,” said Conestoga president, Dr. John Tibbits. “We are honoured to receive the 2016 Community Partner Award and look forward to our continued work together.”
Conestoga will be presented with the award at WCDSB’s Appreciation Night on May 12.
