Three students in Conestoga's International Business Management (IBM) degree program have recently received recognition for their academic achievements, skills and experience.
Export Development Canada (EDC) International Business Scholarship
Each year, EDC awards each year 30 scholarships to post-secondary business students across Canada to underscore the significance of international trade and investment among Canada’s future young business leaders. The scholarship is based on the student's academic achievements and international experience.
Sebastian Toplician, a 4th year International Business Management (IBM) student, won the EDC 2014 International Business Scholarship in May 2014. He was the only college student among the 30 scholarship winners.
Sebastian was one of three IBM students who took part in the student exchange program with the University of Finance in Prague, Czech Republic in 2013.
Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) Achievement Award
Laura Barnard, a recent International Business Management (IBM) graduate, won the 2013 FITT Achievement Award in 2014, when she was a 4th year student. Only two students were chosen from universities and colleges across Canada based on a notable combination of community involvement, work experience and academic success. During the 4 years of her program, Laura completed 3 co-op work terms at BlackBerry as a Materials Planning Assistant and Analyst, and also worked part-time for Sun Life Financial, Conestoga College, BlackBerry and Enflick Inc.
Ontario Technological Skills Competition (OTSC)
Codi Forrest, a 2nd year International Business Management (IBM) student, placed first at the OTSC in the IT Office Software Applications category in May 2014, when he was a first-year student. A year earlier, while he was still in high school, Codi placed first at the provincial level and second at the Nationals.
