In an opinion column published in the September 9 edition of the Guelph Mercury, President John Tibbits discusses the vision for a new Conestoga campus to be developed in the city’s downtown core.
Conestoga is a partner in the Baker District development project, which has received the endorsement of Guelph City Council. The project includes 80,000 sq. ft. of new post-secondary educational space in downtown Guelph to serve the needs of up to 1,500 additional students.
According to the article, the new campus will address a longstanding deficiency in local, career-focused education opportunities in Guelph and Wellington County while providing a much-needed boost to the downtown economy.
