“Today’s customers consistently go online to collect information, to interact with brands directly and to make purchases,” Hivert said. “As a result, organizations are seeking people who are specifically trained to utilize social media to help achieve their business goals and objectives.”
The new full-time, one-semester program will launch in September, 2014, and is open to individuals who hold a diploma or degree from an accredited college or university, or who have two years of related business experience. It includes five courses that will provide students with the skills and knowledge to design and implement effective marketing initiatives through Internet and social media applications.
Areas of focus include business strategy, integrated marketing and content creation and management as well as technical training on today’s most popular social media platforms.
“In just four months, the program will provide graduates of any college or university program with a valuable set of additional skills they can use to leverage their training and support employers’ needs,” Hivert continued.

For small business owners and others hoping to develop their social media and marketing skills to support business needs, the program will also be offered on a part-time basis in the evenings. Two of the five courses in the program will begin in May 2014.
