APICS celebrates 30-year anniversary

Conestoga’s student chapter of the Association for Operations Management (APICS) at Conestoga College is celebrating its 30-year anniversary with a series of special events.

On November 13, almost 100 students, professionals and former group presidents participated in a Student Appreciation Night jointly hosted by the Conestoga group and their parent APICS chapter, the Ontario Grand Valley. Apics.jpg

Later, students enjoyed a bus trip to the Rogers Centre, where they toured the venue and watched a Toronto Argonauts game.

According to Tracey Lopers, coordinator of the Supply Chain and Operation Management program, the event provided students with an inside view of how a real-world supply chain works as they met with a number of speakers from the Argonauts’ supply chain as well as the vice president of marketing and a representative of the Robert Group, a transportation logistics company.

With about 56 students, the Conestoga chapter met with their counterparts at Durham College students for the tour and the Argonauts game. To ensure that the celebration was both informative and exciting, APICS members were provided with networking opportunities and real-world applications of their classroom learning.
