We are proud to announce that CAA will be a participating college on the Association of Canadian Community Colleges' (ACCC) new Essential Skills for Immigrants (ESI) Project. Foreign-trained professionals from China, the Philippines and India will have the opportunity to have their Essential Skills assessed and participate in Essential Skills upskilling before arriving in Canada. This training will help ease immigrants' transitions into the Canadian labour market, and will assist them in obtaining and retaining employment that is commensurate with their education and skills. The ESI project will build the capacity of three Canadian Immigrant Integration Program (CIIP) Field Office teams to conduct Essential Skills assessments and support upgrading, and will build the capacity of Canadian Colleges to provide services to immigrants upon arrival in Canada.
This project is a collaboration among ACCC, Douglas College, Bow Valley College, Norquest College, George Brown College and Conestoga College, and is funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. CIIP is funded by the Foreign Credential Referrals Office (FCRO) of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
