Two Conestoga researchers are asking this question to students in the School of Business & Hospitality who have completed at least two semesters at College. The survey will take students less than 10 minutes to complete and is completely confidential.
Students who participate will have the chance to win:
- 1 of 3 iPod ITouch media players
- 1 of 5 Food Services Certificates ($50 ea)
- 1 of 2 Bookstore Certificates ($100 ea)
Co-researchers Dr. David Smiderle (Faculty in School of Business & Hospitality) and Patricia Green (Information Literacy Consultant, Library Resource Centre) will use the data gathered from the four week survey to provide them with information about the best practices students use when studying in relationship to a Knowledge Acquisition Cycle. They will also determine what relationship the use of these best practices has, if any, on the grades students achieve.
The intention is that the information gathered from this research will be useful for educators at Conestoga College as well as other institutions. The researchers also intend to submit their findings to a peer reviewed journal. This study has received approval from the Conestoga College Research Ethics Board. The research findings will be reported to the College Community in 2010.
