Conestoga College is pleased to offer a full-time information technology training program for women. The program is fully funded through the Ontario Women’s Directorate for those that qualify.

The program covers computer literacy, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, networking, hardware, repair, soldering, and an industry-wide A+ accreditation in computer hardware.

The focus of the program is to put low-income women on the road to financial security.

"You can't put into words the value of this," says instructor Carol Schlievert, who developed the program at Conestoga and has been a technology teacher for 18 years. "It has changed so many lives." "You can't believe the success stories, of women who have gone from living on Ontario Works to $40,000-a-year jobs," says Schlievert.

Schlievert notes the students are also in demand when placement time comes around. Local employers who have offered placements in the past frequently contact the college about when the next group is coming through so they can offer them spots.

There are two programs starting September 15th and October 20th. If you are interested in finding out more about the program or want book an appointment, please contact Connie Boyd at 519-748-5220 ext. 3628 or email cboyd@conestogac.on.ca.
