School's out and now on to Co-op placements for our dual credential students in the School of Trades and Apprenticeship at the Guelph Campus.
Students were recently recognized by industry representatives for their achievements in three new Co-operative education programs: Mechanical Techniques- Millwright, Motive Power Fundamentals- Truck and Coach and Motive Power Fundamentals- Automotive Service. Our Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Award ceremony will be in August.
These unique programs allow students the opportunity to gain an Ontario College Certificate while at the same time being signed on as an apprentice through a Consortium group of employers who act as the sponsor. This program model allows the student/apprentice to receive apprenticeship in-school training in conjunction with their post-secondary studies. Through these certificate programs they can achieve both Level 1 and Level 2 apprenticeship in-school training and complete a Co-operative education work experience.
