Culinary and Hospitality students volunteered their time to cook at the annual Oktoberfest Pancake Breakfast in downtown Waterloo. The free breakfast was open to the public in return for a donation to the food bank. It was a show of great community support by all involved, and it allowed the students the opportunity to apply their skills outside the classroom for a good cause.
Over 20 students experienced Event style cooking for thousands on the morning of Saturday October 6th. Students worked outdoors under a tent with propane fueled equipment and on-site refrigerated trucks to prepare the food.
In addition, student teams competed in the annual barrel race presented by the Uptown Waterloo Business Association. Thus fully immersing themselves in the Oktoberfest spirit.
