Lucrecia Castillo, a year one student in the Biotechnology Technician program at Conestoga College was the winner of the $1,000 prize (presented to her by Carol Gregory, Conestoga's Director of Student Development). The prize was awarded to a randomly selected student who participated in part one of the Ontario College Student Engagement Survey.
The Ontario College Student Engagement Survey is a Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities survey that identifies the characteristics of students attending Ontario public colleges, the nature of their student experience and the key determinants of student success.
29,129 students across the Ontario college system completed the September 2007 survey. 1,921 students at Conestoga College participated. Last year as well a student form Conestoga won the $1,000 grand prize.
Other Conestoga College winners included Ryan Warner, a Marketing student who won an HMV certificate and Anthony Sicialia, a Journalism student who won a SONY PSP player.
