Now that Easter is over, why not start thinking about Oktoberfest? Why not think about Christmas, too? That's what Kitchener-based Schneiders Foods is doing.
And it asked first-year students in the Graphic Design program of Conestoga College to help with that thinking.
The company, long a fixture in the Kitchener-Waterloo community, has a major annual presence in the Oktoberfest parade. Part of that presence is a parade float, and Schneiders held a competition amoung Graphic Design students to dvise a new float for introduction in the 2003 parade. The result is titled Good Food, Good Fun and features a family seated around the dinner table to enjoy the bounty of the harvest. A team of three students has received from Schneiders a $300 award to share. The students are Chris Cressman of New Hamburg, Lyndsey Loiacono of Burlington and James Prunean of Mannheim.
At the same time, Schneider Foods commissioned a competition for its 2003 corporate Christmas card. The winning design, a Victorian winter scene featuring children at play, was done by James Prunean. For his efforts, he has received an award of $300.
The winning students entered the three-year Graphic Design
program at Conestoga's Coon campus in Kitchener in the fall of 2002. Both
Cressman and Prunean are graduates of Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary
School in Baden. Loiacono is a graduate of Burlington's Lester B. Pearson
Secondary School.
