Discovering new directions for a better New Year and a better career is a great resolution. And when it comes to making that resolution, 13 can be a very lucky number.
This winter, the Continuing Education Division of Conestoga College offers 13 courses and workshops in various aspects of career exploration and planning. These activities are at the Doon campus in Kitchener, the Waterloo campus or both. Sessions begin as early as mid-January, with several courses beginning in February or March.
Through these courses, participants can learn how to locate a career or job suited to their interests, how to research the job market to find growing employment areas, how to write effective resumes and be effective in job interviews, and ways to approach prospective employers that will enhance the chances of receiving a job offer.
There are also courses that focus on exploration of educational opportunities associated with career change and how to prepare for those opportunities.
Among the course titles are Career Fit and Personality Type; Priorities and Career Success; Dynamic Portfolios; Successful Self-Marketing; Effective Job Search Techniques and Labour Market Trends; and The Successful Adult Learner.
Kathie Lamie of Conestoga's Career and Job Enhancement Services office says, "We have a lineup of great content and a number of new, highly skilled instructors and facilitators. Winter is a promising time for people who want to get ready to return to work or change careers."
