In case you didn't see this item in the local newspapers, Highway 401 will undergo major construction between Homer Watson Blvd. and Cedar Creek Rd. (Waterloo Region Rd. 97) for a two-year period, to accommodate widening of the road to six lanes. Work begins this month and should end by October 2004, with a winter work suspension from December 1-April 1 during construction.
On weeknights, westbound traffic will be a single lane only from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays (on Fridays, lane reduction starts at 10 p.m.). Eastbound traffic will be a single lane only from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, and from 8 p.m.-6a.m. Thursdays (on Fridays, lane reduction starts at 9 p.m.).
