Ontarios community colleges have just released enrolment figures for the fall 2001 term, and Conestoga College continues to grow, with 5,036 students in postsecondary programs -- an increase of 6.7 per cent over the fall 2000 term.
Our increase of 6.7 per cent is noteworthy, as it comes with our upholding our traditional admission standards, which tend to be among the highest in the system, says Fred Harris, Conestogas Registrar.
The fall 2001 enrolment increase for the entire college system is 2.7
per cent. Only four colleges (Mohawk,
Northern, Sheridan, St. Clair) show enrolment increases greater than Conestogas.
Among the academic divisions at Conestoga, the School of Business and Hospitality has an enrolment of 1,797, Health Sciences and Community Services 1,480, Engineering Technology 1,132, College Access 389 and Applied Arts 238.
Over the past two years (fall 1999 - fall 2001), Conestogas full-time, postsecondary enrolment has risen by 9.62 percent.
