Dr. Bronson Du of the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance (CISWP) will lead a discussion on addressing post-traumatic stress injuries among Canadian paramedics.
Nearly 50 per cent of paramedics screened positive for at least one mental health disorder in Canada. Paramedics face many stressors that make them a high-risk population for post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI). Many of these risk factors are inherent to the work and cannot be eliminated, but organizational factors may either mitigate or facilitate the impacts of PTSI. In this webinar, we discuss the core organizational elements to avoiding and reducing PTSI in paramedics.
During this session, attendees will learn:
- common risk factors of PTSI,
- organizational best practices for the prevention and management of PTSI, and
- barriers and facilitators to reporting a PTSI.
The session is part of CISWP's webinar series, aimed at providing an opportunity for stakeholders across Canada and around the world to learn about cutting-edge applied research conducted by CISWP scientists, partnering organizations and research collaborators.
