Guests were invited to browse the student gallery which included self-portraits, photography, illustrations, prints and abstracts featuring a number of different materials, mediums and themes. The show also offered a canvas raffle and print sale and guests were invited to sit for caricature sketches.

Program faculty member Ariane Wieck described Design Foundations as a portfolio-building program that prepares students for a number of career options in the fields of design and communications. The program features courses in the principles and history of design, idea development, research, presentation skills, portfolio development, drawing, colour theory and printing technology. Upon completion of the program graduates tend to explore Conestoga's Graphic Design or Advertising and Marketing Communications diploma programs or pursue the Bachelor of Design.

Design Foundations student Carlos Ramirez served as a master of ceremony for the event and said he was pleased with the turnout and the feedback. “People have come up to me to say they like my work and it really means a lot that my art is recognized.” Ramirez plans to build upon the skills he acquired in Design Foundations and pursue a career in advertising.
