Conestoga College is pleased to announce an exciting new program - Theatrical Production Arts, which is scheduled for launch in the fall of 2009.

This innovative program will be run in Stratford in partnership with Off The Wall Productions and the Stratford Artists' Alliance. The pool of instructors is drawn from seasoned production artists from the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and the arts community. Their extensive theatrical experience provides an excellent opportunity for mentoring and enabling them to pass on their exceptional knowledge to the students of this program.

This intensive two-year advanced diploma (six consecutive semesters) is for students who wish to pursue their interest in theatre crafts. Students will learn skills in the design and construction of sets, props and costumes from some of the most seasoned professionals in the field.

The Theatrical Production Arts program, based on the atelier model of artistic schooling, is designed to give students practical training and experience in various theatrical production arts with a focus on stage properties. This format provides students with a broad range of skills which would give them the basis to continue on to a career in the entertainment industry, or choose to specialize further in a particular area of expertise. This is great for students who love the theatre but also possess diverse skills - everything from art and design to carpentry and welding.

Stratford, home to the largest classical repertory theatre in North America, provides the ideal environment for students to attend performances at all four theatres and to be immersed in the theatre community, rounding out the already extensive production arts training to be offered in this program.
