Annual ECE Conference

Southern Ontario’s largest professional development event for early childhood educators returned to Conestoga on March 28 and on March 29. The event, sponsored by kidsLINK Preschool Support Services, the Region of Waterloo Children’s Services Division and Conestoga's ECE/child studies Department is designed to respond to early childhood educators committment to professional development and life-long learning..

This was the 20th annual conference. Attendance was excellent. Saturday’s programming consisted of over 30 workshops held in classrooms throughout the campus, addressing a wide variety of issues from day-to-day programming ideas for toddlers to policy and advocacy for the field. A warm reception was given to the additional feature of fair displays that highlighted educational publishers, manufacturers of educational products and providers of services for young children. The conference not only created opportunities for learning new ideas, and gaining new knowledge, it also gave participants an opportunity to network, reflect and reconnect with each other. Early childhood educators benefitted from a variety of workshops addressing a wide variety of issues of interest to the field. The array of topics ranged from understanding Autism, environmental risks to child health, to helping children and their families develop healthy relationship skills.

We thank the organizers of the event and all those that attended for their commitment and dedication to our children and our future.
