Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) week - Water for All: Navigating urban challenges to realize SDG 6 goals

March 7, 2025 | 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. | Virtual event

Water is a shared resource and the lifeblood of communities.

Municipalities play a key role in water governance, especially in protecting public health and the environment. This includes ensuring drinking water is safe, and wastewater and stormwater are appropriately managed.

Join this event on urban water management, where Dr. Bu Lam, an experienced and dedicated water professional, will discuss how municipalities like Kitchener are addressing challenges like aging infrastructure, population growth and climate change, which are impacting their ability to effectively manage urban water systems. The presentation will also focus on innovative solutions to help overcome these obstacles. Emphasizing a holistic approach, Bu will discuss the role of policy, technology, and community engagement in achieving SDG 6.

This presentation aims to inspire attendees to adopt sustainable water management practices that contribute to the global goal of clean water and sanitation for all.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) week features workshops, panels and other interactive programming to showcase commitment to a sustainable future, mobilize knowledge and encourage collaboration. The week is part of SDG Month Canada, a national initiative that invites colleges and universities to increase awareness of and engagement with the United Nations 17 SDGs.
