Students and employees are invited to this special speaking event offered as part of the 2024 Sustainability Speaker series on biodiversity loss.
Biodiversity loss has been named a top 5 business risk for the past several years in the World Economic Forum’s annual survey of global leaders about business risks.
In this session, David Y. Smith will provide an overview of the magnitude of the problem, the key causes and paths toward solutions. Smith has been helping drive business sustainability for over 20 years through company-specific initiatives, precompetitive collaborative industry initiatives and global supply chains.
His consulting work includes building public trust, transparency, and supply chain traceability. Prior executive positions include VP Sustainability for Sobeys and VP Marketing & Communications for Whole Foods Market (US). David engages in extensive stakeholder engagement across full value chains, and has driven both sustainable production and sustainable consumption. He has been on three global sustainability steering committees with Fortune 100 companies and was on the Board of the Canadian Business & Biodiversity Council.
