Across Canada, and in many other countries, people gather on November 11 to honour the courage and devotion of all the brave men and women who served and the many who sacrificed their lives fighting for freedom and democracy during the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict, and peacekeeping missions.
The college will host a livestream service in observance of Remembrance Day beginning at 10:45 a.m.
Service agenda:
- Opening remarks
- Reading: History of the poppies
- Reading: In Flanders Fields
- Last post (trumpet)
- 11 a.m.: Moment of silence
- Rouse (trumpet)
- National anthem: O Canada
Poppy boxes will also be available across Conestoga campuses starting October 31 for those who wish to wear this traditional symbol of respect and remembrance.
