Conestoga's Advanced Police Studies program is commemorating the life of Danny Holmes by raising fund in support of the Sunshine Foundation of Canada.
Over 20 years ago, Conestoga fitness instructor Colleen Holmes-Cummings lost her four year old son Danny to cancer. Since that time, Conestoga students have hosted a fundraiser to support the Sunshine Foundation, which helps fulfill the dreams of children with severe illnesses.
In lieu of the traditional dodgeball tournament, Advanced Police Studies students will be hosting a walk-a-thon in honour of Danny. This fundraiser involves individual participants to walk and/or run any distance they choose.
Teams can sign up and have an unlimited number of participants. Teams must track their progress using an app of their choice and submit a photo of their progress to walkathon4danny@outlook.com or via direct message to @Dodgeball4Danny to be counted towards their team's mileage.
Student organizers are asking that each team member donates $10 to the Sunshine Foundation as an individual registration fee. Beyond the registration, participants are encouraged to collect donations to support this worthy cause.
