Conestoga College is accepting applications for the tuition-free Pre-Apprenticeship Truck and Coach/Heavy Duty Equipment Technician program, giving participants current and relevant skills and experience in this thriving area of our economy, and a head start on achieving apprenticeship certification and a successful career in the skilled trades.
Starting in March 2018, this pre-apprenticeship training program will be offered at Conestoga's Guelph campus, running full-time during the day for 23 weeks. The program also features an additional eight-week practical work placement experience.
This program includes multiple trade exposure with Truck and Coach Technician, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Agricultural Equipment Technician and Powered Lift Truck Technician. Commercial Vehicle common core Level 1 apprenticeship in-class training is also included.
Candidates interested in this program are required to attend an information session.
Program faculty will be available to answer questions and provide a tour of the shop.
Please note, only 24 program enrollment spaces are available.

How do I apply for this program?
Attending a Pre-Apprenticeship Information Session is the first step in the admission process. You are welcome to attend at either the Guelph campus or Waterloo Career Centre as the same information will be presented at all sessions.
What are the admission requirements?
Applicants need to be a resident of Ontario, be 16 years of age or older and not currently a high school student.
What if I didn’t graduate from high school, can I still apply?
Yes! Pre-apprenticeship programs include Academic Upgrading, so students can obtain their GED (high school equivalency) during their studies.
What is the cost?
The program is tuition-free, funded by the Province of Ontario.
What will I learn?
You will learn a variety of fundamental skills in the classroom and shops to help secure an apprenticeship. Almost half of your time in the program will be working hands-on in the shops.
What if I am receiving Employment Insurance or Ontario Works benefits, can I still apply?
Yes! Candidates receiving these benefits are encouraged to attend an information session to learn more.
Will I receive any assistance looking for a job/apprenticeship?
Yes! Job search assistance is provided for all students.
