Trades and Technology Day - Electrical Energy and Keen About Green Architecture

March 2, 2016

Cambridge Campus

"TNT Day" provides female students in grades 7 to 10 with the opportunity to learn and work in a college shop setting.

Students will take part in hands‐on activities related to careers in construction, engineering, architecture, and the industrial and motive power sectors. This experience will provide young women with exposure to the trades, promoting better informed academic pathways and career decisions.

These activities will be run by senior trades and technology students and apprentices under the direction of college faculty and in consultation with local secondary school teachers.

Students will also be introduced to the pathways from secondary school to apprenticeship and related college programs.

At the Electrical Energy workshop, students will build their own miniature electrical energy systems that perform a variety of interesting tasks. The circuits will be powered by battery, wind and solar energy. Students will take home their own energy kits along with a workbook to explore more battery‐powered circuit designs.

The Keen About Green Architecture workshop will explore the spaces we occupy and their effect on people and the environment, with special attention to how to create sustainable buildings.
