Two Conestoga community members test positive

As Ontario experiences a third wave of COVID-19, Waterloo Region continues to see an increase in active cases.

Two students engaged in on-campus learning activities at Conestoga’s Waterloo Campus have tested positive for COVID-19, and as a precaution, Region of Waterloo Public Health has declared an outbreak on the campus. The students have completed their studies for the semester and are in self-isolation. Individuals who may have been in close contact with them have been notified by public health officials and are also self-isolating.

There is no increased risk of COVID-19 to the broader Conestoga community.

This serves as a general reminder that we must continue to adhere to public health guidelines and follow all infection prevention and control measures while on campus. COVID-19 vaccines are becoming more widely available, and we encourage all members of our college community to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

High vaccination rates and continued efforts to follow public health recommendations will offer the best protection against COVID-19, and will eventually lead us out of this pandemic.
