Message from International Education: Mandatory pre-departure COVID-19 testing

The following message was sent to international students on behalf of International Education on January 1.

As we prepare for the winter 2021 term at Conestoga, we continue to welcome eligible international students to Canada. If you plan to travel, you must carefully read and understand each section of the mandatory Safe Arrival and Quarantine Plan to help you successfully abide by Canadian government COVID-19 protocols.

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Canada recently introduced pre-departure COVID-19 testing as an additional requirement for all travellers entering Canada. Beginning January 7 at 12:01 a.m. EST, all air passengers ages five years of age or older are required to have a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of departure. You will be required to present documentation of your negative laboratory test result to the airline prior to boarding your flight to Canada. This new requirement is in addition to the mandatory 14-day quarantine requirements already in place.

As the situation continues to evolve, students should continue to monitor the IRCC website for updates when planning to travel to Canada.

For more information on the Safe Arrival and Quarantine Plan, International Education will host webinars on January 7, January 11 and January 14.
