The following message was distributed to all students on behalf of Dr. Barbara Kelly, vice president, Academic/Student Affairs and Human Resources.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work on plans for Conestoga students to safely complete the winter semester and spring semester as well as the upcoming fall semester as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
We are now able to provide some additional clarity on Conestoga’s plans. The safety and well-being of our college community remain our highest priority, and our plans and decisions will continue to be based on the advice of our public health authorities.
Winter semester students who need to complete in-person work to finish courses and earn their final grade can expect to return to classrooms, labs, shops and studios as early as mid-July.
Spring semester students who need to complete in-person work to finish courses and earn their final grade can expect to return to classrooms, labs, shops and studios as early as mid-July, finishing by August 22.
More information regarding specific schedules for students returning to campus will be provided within the next few weeks. Your program team will provide details as to your on-campus schedule in June.
For the fall semester, it is our intent to start a gradual return to campus for select programs. The first day of classes for in-country programs is September 8. We expect that many courses will continue to be delivered remotely. However, labs, shops and studios will be open for courses where on-campus, face-to-face learning is essential. These critical activities will be scheduled in advance so you know when and where to attend. Our objective is to achieve a gradual, safe return to our campuses, with as much on-campus activity as is practical and sensible within public health guidelines.
When you return to campus -- whether for winter or spring completion or for the upcoming fall semester -- you will be required to observe new guidelines to protect the safety and well-being of our community. Physical distancing, diligent hand hygiene and infection control measures, as well as staggered scheduling, will be part of our phased re-opening plan.
Please continue to monitor your Conestoga email as well as the college website for the latest information and updates.
Thank you for making the commitment to continue with your studies at Conestoga through these challenging times. I look forward to seeing you on-campus when the pandemic is over.
Stay safe and well.
Barbara Kelly
