Conestoga named one of Canada's top 50 research colleges

Research Infosource Inc., a leading source of research and development intelligence in Canada, has ranked Conestoga one of Canada’s top 50 research colleges.

The Research Infosource data, released in late 2017, listed Conestoga in twenty-fourth place, moving the college ahead from its previous ranking in 2015 and 2016 where it placed in number 45 and 31 respectively.

The findings from Research Infosource also list Conestoga as one of the top 10 colleges for research revenue growth; the college reported a 50.7 per cent increase over the previous year.

In 2015-16, more than 130 faculty and almost 1,500 students were engaged in applied research activities including capstone, in-class and independent projects that support student learning, address business and industry needs, and contribute to regional prosperity.

Through its centres of expertise -- the Schlegel Centre for Advancing Seniors Care, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Centre for Smart Manufacturing -- Conestoga has developed leading areas of research and opportunities that focus on specific marketplaces, special groups and populations.

In December, the college announced the launch of its fourth research centre, the Magna Centre for Supply Chain Excellence, which will work with industry partners to address the shortage of skilled supply chain specialists and develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges.

Conestoga is also working on the development of an applied research hub in the Gaslight District in Cambridge that will provide new opportunities to focus on innovation for advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity and advanced recycling technologies.
