Notice regarding potential Grand River Transit strike

The Region of Waterloo has announced that UNIFOR Local 4304, representing Grand River Transit (GRT) and MobilityPLUS operators, dispatchers, fleet mechanics and service attendants, conventional buses and specialized transit services will be officially on strike as of 5:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3.

There will be no Grand River Transit or Bus Plus Service available in the region for the duration of the labour disruption. Transit terminals on Charles Street and Ainslie Street will be closed.

Classes and activities at Conestoga will continue as scheduled during the strike.

Students and staff who rely on public transit are advised to make alternative plans for travel to and from Conestoga’s Doon, Cambridge and Waterloo campuses.

Alternative transportation options may include carpooling or driving, walking, cycling, or taking a taxi, Uber or Rideco. For more information, visit Helping you get around during a transit strike.

All students and employees are advised to allow extra time for travel during the strike as additional vehicle traffic may result in traffic congestion and delays.

Further updates will be posted as they become available.
