New Aboriginal Studies program promotes student success

Beginning in January, 2014, Conestoga will provide a new, specialized training program tailored to support Aboriginal students in the achievement of both education and employment success.

Aboriginal Studies - Office Software Applications is a 12-week, full-time program that will focus on computer applications and software commonly used in a business environment. Delivered at Conestoga’s Doon campus in Kitchener, the program will also include workshops in such areas as Aboriginal studies and culture, event planning, customer service, social media and first aid and CPR.

Classes run from January 6 to March 28, 2014. There is no cost for eligible applicants.

Participants must be First Nations (status or non-status), Metis or Inuit. Additional requirements include an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent for those under 19 years of age.
