Conestoga faculty member designs award-winning chair

Conestoga part-time faculty member Sarah Turner has won the 2013 ‘Emerge Italy’ Design Competition with her chair design titled ‘flight’.

Turner, principal designer at Kitchener-based headturner designs, won the residential sector of the competition with her chair which was inspired by classical forms, ergonomics and the iconic Black House Bird of Charles and Ray Eames. ChairPhoto.jpg

The chair will be produced by an Italian furniture company and exhibited at the 2014 Salone Del Mobile in Milan, Italy.

With over 10 years of industry experience, Turner, a graduate of the Academy of Design in Toronto is currently studying a Masters of Interior Design in Florence, Italy.

As a part-time faculty member at Conestoga, Turner teaches courses in the Interior Decorating program that focus heavily on studio design.
