Intensifying and Broadening the Spectrum of Workforce Development at Conestoga College

Through generous support from the Cowan Foundation the Chair of Workforce Development, Dr. Thanh-Thanh Tieu (pictured below), joined CAA in April. The Chair’s focus is on developing programming and partnerships with local organizations and employers.

While workforce development has always been an integral part of the work done by Career and Academic Access, generous support from the Cowan Foundation has allowed for additional growth in this area. The new Chair of Workforce Development, Dr. Thanh-Thanh Tieu, joined CAA in April. As Chair her focus is to develop innovative programming and create strong partnerships with local organizations and employers.

Generally, Workforce Development involves collaboration between educational institutions, industry and government with the goal of empowering individuals and organizations to realize their maximum work potential. When most effective, Workforce Development responds to and develops opportunities that are consistent with the goals and needs of the broader community.

The Workforce Development initiative at Conestoga College has the ultimate goals of meeting the labour market demands of members of the community. This will be accomplished through strategic partnerships with service providers, employers, government and community organizations with the goal of providing individuals with access to meaningful employment through innovative and responsive programs and services.
