Conestoga Offers Free Carpentry Program for Women

Conestoga College has once again received funding for the Women in Skilled Trades General Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship Program through the Ontario Womens Directorate (OWD).

The Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) program will provide opportunity to 25 participants, starting in September at Waterloo. The program features 28 weeks of in-college instruction, plus ten weeks of practical, on-the job training. Those who successfully complete thee program are ready to pursue employment, apprenticeships or advanced training. This is the eighth consecutive year Conestoga has offered WIST training.

The WIST program is tuition-free to qualifying students, thanks to the OWD funding. Those interested in WIST Carpentry can attend a free information session to learn more about the program, dates and locations are below. You do not need to register for the sessions but please be advised that information sessions at the Waterloo Campus include a tour and closed-toed shoes must be worn in the shops. Eye protection will be provided.

Waterloo Campus: Wednesdays (approximately two (2) hours)
April 28th - 2:00 p.m.
May 5th - 10:00 a.m.
May 12th - 2:00 p.m.
May 26th - 2:00 p.m.
June 2nd - 2:00 p.m.
June 16th - 10:00 a.m.

Guelph Campus: Mondays (approximately one (1) hour)
May 17th - 2:00 p.m.
June 7th - 2:00 p.m.

All information sessions will begin promptly at the times listed.
