For the first time ever, Conestoga is the OCAA Men's cross-country running champions!

Our men's team won the gold medal in Hamilton finishing first with 30 points while the second place team was Fanshawe College with 45 points. Dave Sharatt, the first Conestoga athlete to become the men's individual champion last year, defended his title while other Conestoga runners finished seventh, eighth and fourteenth to give Conestoga the team title. Our entire men's team ran the first 4km of the race in under 14 minutes 30 seconds and they represented Conestoga as a true team.

"Dave was happier about the team success even more than his own personal success which is the kind of maturity that represents Conestoga's athletes and students in a dignified and classy manner on the provincial sporting scene" said head coach Ken Yandeau.

Conestoga's Jason Smith was also named a member of the Team Ontario all-star team for his 7th place finish.

The team now competes at the Canadian Championships in Kingston November 8th.
