Community Partners 2008

The Community Partners Event is an opportunity for local employment agencies & employment providers to receive updates on current Conestoga programs and gain information on future Trades & Apprenticeship initiatives at Conestoga College. Community Partners Dinner We were thrilled to have John Sawicki emcee our event this year, and honoured that President Tibbits was able to attend and speak to his ideas for growing Conestoga College. For the past two years, we’ve been partnering with Training & Development (Sandra Schelling) and Hospitality & Culinary programs (Gary Hallam) to feature programs and new training initiatives that are under one year in length. (Short-term training for increased success in employment)

This year, 50 people attended and Conestoga culinary students provided a fantastic lunch for our partners. Our local apprenticeship office and Employment Ontario provided updates on their changes. This event also provides a networking opportunity to see what types of training we deliver at Conestoga College.

Sandra Schelling launched a new section on our college website accessible for local employment providers (and clients) which highlights programs that are under one year in length. This is a resource that will be highly beneficial as Conestoga College continues to address the needs of our communities by creating new short-term programs which will increase the skill level of our labour market. Please check the website at: www.conestogac.on.ca, go to “Academics” on the top navigation and when the drop down menu appears, click on “Career/Employment Changes”. Programs are listed by area and entrance requirements are listed.
